Happy New Years
Happy First day of 2025! Are you as excited as I am for this brand new year? What plans do you have? Do you have any dreams? Goals? How happy of a new year will you actually have?
This is a new year. A new beginning. And things with change… Taylor Swift.
Have you ever seen the movie New Years Day? I recently watched it and what an amazing movie about hope and love. The premise revolves around multiple couples and/or people in various situations all in and around New York City’s Times Square. Some in search of love, some welcoming a new baby, some learning about forgiveness and some processing a love dying. Each character draws you into their story making you empathize and relate to their struggle and/or excitement.

In this movie, there are a few amazing standout quotes. Not only do they embody hope and love in every word, but they are a profound example of how we should all strive to be in life.
Here are a few examples:
- New Years is about the hope of a new year
- Second chances don’t expire until midnight
- Sometimes it feels like there are so many things in this world we can’t control. Earthquakes, floods, reality shows… But it’s important to remember the things that we can. Like forgiveness, second chances, fresh starts… Because the one thing that turns the world from the longing place to a beautiful place… is love.
- …and as you all can see, the ball has stopped half way to its perch. It’s suspended there to remind us before we pop the champagne and celebrate the new year – to stop and reflect on the year that has gone by. To remember both our triumphs and our missteps, our promises made and broken, the times we opened ourselves up to great adventure or closed ourselves down for fear of getting hurt – because that’s what new year’s all about – getting another chance. A chance to forgive, to do better, to do more, to give more, to love more, and to stop worrying about what if… and start embracing what will be. So, when that ball drops at midnight, and it will drop – let’s remember to be nice to each other, kind to each other, and not just tonight, but all year long.
When I look at New Years with respect to those above quotes, I see a new year of love. A new year of happiness and joy. A new year to reconcile with loved ones. A new year to try again. A new year to make things right.
If 2024 had some hardships or struggles for you, how about making 2025 the start of something new? A new year is a year full of second chances. As you sit and ease into 2025 today, why not pause and reflect on the months passed. Is there anyone or anything that requires a second chance? What about a new beginning or a fresh start? How about correcting something that has caused strife in a relationship?
January 1 is a day to start over and to begin dreaming again. Wash away all of those hardships and become rejuvenated with a fresh new start.
Happy New Year to you and I pray for all of you to have a joyful, happy, exciting year filled with new beginnings, second chances, and an abundance of love.
