Magnificent Men

This weekend marks another celebration day in our house (two actually). Our weekend begins with our amazing son stepping out of teen hood and into a new decade – the twenties. And it ends with celebrating more extraordinary men with Father’s day. A weekend full of celebrating the magnificent men in my life.
The real man smiles in trouble, gathers strength from distress and grows brave by reflection… Thomas Paine
The First Of My Magnificent Men…
My Boy! I guess I can’t technically call him – My Boy – anymore. He is our 20-year old young man, but really… I will always call him my boy. Reflecting on this past year and all of his accomplishments, I couldn’t be more proud. Watching him grow into the faithful, driven, smart, and amazing man that he is fills my heart up with so much love and adoration. His passion for learning and going after his dreams inspires not only us, but his friends as well.
Why Our Son Amazes Us?
- He started on a new educational path – excelling in all areas and reaching top marks within his class.
- Became a Personal Trainer
- Started a Fitness YouTube channel teaching others fitness and health tips – opening his knowledge up to the world (he is also on Instagram and TikTok – @callummurphypt)
- Is a man of God and not shy to show that
- He has an amazing ability to guide others through instruction which is so calming
- He has an infectious laugh
- He sets goals and goes after them.
- He loves his family dearly
- He is a loyal friend and would help them in every way possible
- He is not afraid of hard work
- He is willing to try new things

Reflecting on the past 20 years of birthday’s, each year has brought on a new smile, a new memory, a new reason for being so proud. There may be a tear in my eye when I wake on your celebration day, but they will be tears of joy. Watching you – year after year – grow into the man that you are now gives me (and your dad) a feeling of such joy. God took you – after a year of uncertainly and misdirection on a path that we thought was for you – and directed you on a path which is now honouring Him. This path has allowed you to shine in your strengths, your passions, and your faith.
NOTE: You will know your path is always right if you are honouring God and He will always direct you – you just have to listen. Sometimes, you need to go through the valleys to get to where you are supposed to be. Even if you aren’t quite listening, God will direct you back to where you are to be – closing the doors He needs to and opening the ones that are necessary. The path you are on is for a purpose – to meet people, help others, learn something, develop a skill, or become closer to God (paraphrased from Uncommen: A to B – What’s Your Path devotional). God has you right where you are to be and I have complete certainty that your dreams will come true.
As I look back on birthday memories (from bowling parties, to indoor amusement parks, to paintball and cottage fun) – today will be another glorious day. Happy Birthday my love. May you continue to seek out adventure, learn all that you can learn, and that your dreams come to fruition with ease. I love you to the moon and back (and even though you are not a teenager anymore – you will always be my ‘boy’).
Jumping forward to a few days later – we will be celebrating a couple other magnificent men in our lives – my husband and my dad – as well as my father-in-law up in heaven – for Father’s Day. These magnificent men have impacted not only myself, our children, but also many friends over the years. These magnificent men have so many qualities that provide our family with stability and strength.
What Makes These Men Magnificent?
- Their humour
- Their talents (piano, golf, teaching)
- Their ability to bring calm
- Their love for their families
- Their values
- Their faith
- Their protection
- Their ability to drop anything for us in need
- Their knowledge
- Their stories
- Their laughter

So, Happy Father’s Day to these magnificent men. Together, they provide the basis of strength, love, and happiness for our family. Without these men – our family structure would be incomplete – cracked – instable. They are the human form of the Trinity (The Father – my Dad, The Son, – my Husband, and the Holy Ghost – my husband’s Dad in heaven) – providing protection and love to their most cherished accomplishments. We are so proud to be called your daughter, your son, your wife, your children, and your grandchildren. All three of you inspire anyone you come in contact with daily and all three of you are loved dearly by all of us. We treasure you.
