La Brea Honeygritch

It’s that time of year again – where everything is decked out in shamrocks and we all wear green! That also means it is my adoring husband’s birthday and nothing would be more fitting than celebrating his birthday on an Irish Holiday with a La Brea Honeygritch.
Note: La Brea Honeygritch means happy birthday in Gaelic
This winter, my husband and I have both dug deep into our ancestry heritage. Now, most likely in the near future weeks you will see a whole blog on this amazing tool, but for today – the focus will be on the Irish. We have only just begun, but my husband has been so fascinated with the amount of Irish history, facts, and family tree knowledge he has uncovered. He discovered the first of his family to come over the pond to Canada. He has found endless branches linking him to cousins he was not aware of. He has uncovered old photographs and documents revealing a mountain of historical events and moments.
Each new hint and find that is uncovered reveals another piece of his ancestorial puzzle – which in turn is like a new gift with each click of a button.
Do you ever wonder where you come from? My husband and I have wondered for years and kept saying that we must do Ancestry.com. With his birthday just days away and reading the old historical documents, it’s almost like there is a new piece of old world heritage with him this birthday.
It makes me wonder what his relatives were like back then? Where they lived (although, we do believe we found where in Ireland the clan originated from and coincidently found part of that area – Tomnifinoggue – on a past Ireland trip)? And how they celebrated birthdays?
So, on this fabulous birthday of my loving husband, how will we celebrate? If it were up to him, it would be a simple gathering with family and a few laughs. Yet, when it omes to everyone else’s birthdays, he’s the first to make a huge deal. This year, we will be away on his special day, but I am certain I can pull a few surprises from my sleeve.
To start his celebration early, below is a gift basket full of why I love my husband:

Each character trait of his are not only his special gifts about himself, they are gifts to those who know him. Anyone fortunate enough to cross paths with my husband, be friends with him, be loved by him, or close to him would agree – he is a man made up of so many special qualities gifting us with a glorious being.
Now knowing where he came from – I can see those Irish qualities breathe out of him daily. The Irish people are humourous and easy, laidback and fun-loving, adore their family and are extremely hard workers. All of these qualities are inbedded in him making him the most loving man I know.
So, La Brea Honeygritch to you my love. I love you and I hope you have an amazing birthday on this fantastic Irish holiday.
