Embrace The Waiting

The new year is here with a bang and sometimes, we expect all of our new dreams and goals to be granted… ‘just like that’. In my first blog of the new year, I talked about doing a dream board. Writing down and creating a board full of your dreams, goals and aspirations. Now what? Nothing seems to be happening. This is when you embrace the waiting.
The willingness to wait reveals the value we place on what we are waiting for… Charles Stanley
What does ‘Embrace the Waiting’ mean?
As you could see by my Dream Board below, I have a collage full of different dreams and goals I would love to achieve. Old me, would get discouraged if I didn’t achieve them all or even 1 by a certain time frame. Old me would get frustrated if something was stopping me from fulfilling a dream. Old me would then just give up.

What I have learned from countless devotionals and inspiring books is that the ‘good’ stuff is in the waiting. It’s in the waiting where I have learned more about myself. It’s in the waiting that I have developed strength. It’s in the waiting that I have actually accomplished the necessary steps needed in order for my dream or goal to come to light. If you can learn, develop and grow in the waiting room, you can win at life.
God’s timing is always perfection. No matter what you try to do or control, if a dream isn’t in God’s timing, you will be held in the waiting room until He feels you are ready. So, while in the waiting room, what do you do? Embrace it.
Don’t give up! Keep pushing yourself. Keep striving. Keep preparing yourself for that dream/goal to come true. While you are in the waiting room – embracing it of course – but maybe there are a few steps that are necessary in order for that goal to come true?
- Research or take a class. Maybe your dream requires you to learn a new task or information that could be necessary or beneficial.
- Help a friend or loved one with their dreams and goals. Be an accountability partner together.
- Read, read and read some more. Find a good book, an inspirational biography and/or a devotional about dreams, goals, or embracing the waiting.
- Pray. Talk to God about your dreams and goals. Opening up to Him will provide your heart with ease and lessen any angst that you may be having if your dreams aren’t coming true just yet.
Looking back at old Dream Boards that I have created. I can see that some dreams have come true and some I am still striving for. About 5 years ago, I had a dream about writing a blog and as the years passed, the words were just not there. Until the Winter of 2020 when I started Laughter and Luggage. The words, vision and plan were all there as clear as day. I also had a dream of travelling through Ireland one day, but the timing was never right. Summer of 2019, that trip came true and we had a trip of a life time as a family (not knowing that the following summer all travel plans would be halted). We felt so blessed that we were able to make that dream come true – or rather that God blessed us with the gift of Ireland in order to fulfill a dream of mine.
So, as you go about your day today. As you begin 2022 with your new dreams and goals. Remember to embrace the waiting that God is providing you. There is a reason and a purpose within the waiting. You just need to discover it and I have faith that you will.
Remember… they will come true.
