Fáilte Ar Ais!

Happy September and welcome back!

For those of you staring at that title and wondering what in the world it means… well, it’s Gaelic for Welcome Back! (And maybe just a tiny hint for an upcoming blog).

It’s hard to believe we have stepped into September. The warm days are turning a bit more fall-like, leaves are beginning to shimmer with colour, and the children are back into their routines with lunch boxes and backpacks.

But before we completely embrace fall (even though I would love to dig out my sweaters), let’s take a little look back at summer.

When I left your inboxes in July, I encouraged you to make some summer memories and soak in the sun. Did you?

It was certainly a warm one, that’s for sure! And… quite a bit of rain if I might add.

There were so many moments over the past two months that stood out for me, but if I had to choose a few, they would be:

  1. Laughter at the cottage with family
  2. Spending time with my Dad
  3. A marvelous holiday adventure with my husband (stay tuned for an upcoming blog or two on that!)
  4. Meeting new friends
  5. Enjoying time with old friends

How about you?

Does anything stand out when you think about your summer? Maybe it was a big adventure, a family gathering, a quiet morning with a cup of coffee, or simply having nowhere you needed to be for a little while.

Did you create time to reflect or dream?

Did you have the opportunity to explore somewhere new or relax in a different location?

I love summer for those things – a chance to slow down – to be open to whatever comes our way and to let our minds wander.

And sometimes, in those lazy, hazy summer days, that wandering is exactly what we need.

It’s where I allow my own brain to tap into its creative side — dreaming up new blog ideas, thinking about inspiring uplifts to share, or of course, checking out the next travel itinerary!

But now September is here.

The air will soon turn crisp, the leaves will change into brilliant colours, and those cozy sweaters will be pulled out of summer storage.

And while our routines may be returning, I hope we don’t completely pack away those summer things that are good for the soul — the dreaming, the exploring, the laughing, the connecting, and maybe even a little bit of slowing down.

So, welcome back, friends.

I’m happy to be back in your inbox and back to our weekly conversations. I have lots of stories, thoughts, inspiration and perhaps a little travel dreaming to share with you in the weeks ahead.

Until then, take a moment to think about your summer.

What is one memory you want to carry with you into fall?

Fáilte ar ais, my friends.
I’m so glad you’re here.
