Marvelous Merrickville

Do you enjoy discovering charming little towns close to home? Those picture-perfect villages that look like they’re straight out of a Hallmark movie? I sure do—and that’s exactly what we found in the delightful town of marvelous Merrickville.

“The charm of a small town is the silent symphony of its unspoken unity.” — Munia Khan

My husband and I love exploring charming little towns close to home—those hidden gems with old-world beauty, delightful shops, cozy cafés, and boutiques filled with antiques or one-of-a-kind gifts. Merrickville, without a doubt, checks all those boxes.

From the moment we arrived, it felt like we had stepped into a quaint European village. Historic stone buildings line the Rideau River, colourful storefronts display picture-perfect windows, and inviting restaurants completing the scenery. I couldn’t help but smile before we even parked the car. It’s no surprise Merrickville has been named Canada’s Most Beautiful Village by Communities in Bloom.
