Lucky Charm

When you read the title of this week’s blog, what did you think about? Lucky Charm cereal? A rabbit’s foot? A clover? Well, yes… we are headed into St Patrick’s Day again – a day filled with green, leprechauns, clovers and Irish tunes, but we are also heading into a clover-filled birthday celebration of my husband.

If you’ve been reading these blogs for a while, you may have read past St Patrick’s Day/Birthday themes. If you are new – here are a few quick links.

7 Lucky Facts About St Patrick’s Day
- The luck of the irish can be traced back to the 1800’s during the US gold rush where a high number of Irish people found gold and silver.
- Lucky number 7 – a rainbow has 7 colours – and a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow.
- Shamrocks – 3 leaf and 4 leaf – Hope, faith, love and luck to teach Irish pagens about the trinity.
- Funny sayings – a horse shoe hung over a door the right way will pour out luck. If you see a penny pick it up and you’ll have good luck.
- The colour green. Green is a lucky colour to wear in Ireland because it is a symbol of Ireland.
- Leprechauns – legend states they have magical powers and if you catch one, you will have 3 wishes.
- The Blarney Stone – It too has magical powers. If you kiss the stone you will have the ‘gift of gab’ or ‘powers of persuasion’.

While some or all of these may be legends or folk lord – these simple facts often bring hope and fun to others.
St Patrick’s day is a day to be celebrated – even more so since it is my amazing husband’s birthday.
7 Lucky Facts about my husband:
- He has been gifted with many talents – musical, speaking engagements, woodworking to name a few.
- A fantastic dad – he has taught our children so many wonderful life lessons and given them so much love.
- Loves adventure – as you may be able to tell from past ‘travel’ blogs
- Importance of faith – Faith is the centre of his soul.
- A renowned bread maker – one word… DELICIOUS.
- Has numerous accomplishments – an author, completed many half marathons, a TV star, choosing me for his wife (wink wink).
- He may think he is the lucky one – but we – his family – are the lucky ones to have him as our husband, dad, son, brother, son-in-law and friend.

So, my number one lucky charm… as you go about your special day (I imagine soaking up the hot sun’s rays since we will be on vacation) – I wish you nothing but joy, love, faith (and maybe some luck at the resort casino). I have no doubt you will be loved near and far from family and friends who adore you. Happy birthday my love. As we make another trip around the sun, here’s to new adventures, many laughs, and an abundance of love.
