Fail Or Fly
Are you a risk taker? One to try new things? Or go on spontaneous adventures? Or, are you the type of person who sits at home watching life pass you by? Scared to try something new. Or takes the same vacations – to the same place – year after year? What goes through your head? Are you going to fail or fly?
What if I fail? Oh, but my darling, what if you fly? Erin Hanson
I have written in the past about Learning Minutes. If you fail at something, it is only the first attempt in learning. Or, another way of putting it is; failure is an opportunity to start again, but with more experience. I have come to realize over the years that if you don’t try something new, then you will become stuck in the same old patterns of life. You won’t experience what life is supposed to endure. Life will just pass on by.
I love the saying “Fail or Fly”. It is either going to be a learning minute for you or it will take you soaring into new chapters.
Why is taking a risk at something good for you?
- It gets you out of your comfort zone
- You may learn something new
- You may discover a new talent
- You will have new experiences
- You will prove to yourself you can accomplish something
- You will face fears
- Your children will see that there are no limits
- You will begin a new chapter in your story
- You will become more confident
- You may meet new friends
- You may fall upon a new career path
- You may discover the gifts God gave you
You see, taking a risk – whether that be in something as simple as making a new recipe for dinner, stepping into a new job or career, taking up a new hobby, or travelling to a whole new area can actually create more peace in your life. It opens up your life to new possibilities and adventure. You were designed to be creative, to let your brain think and to live life full of adventure.
Staying the ‘same’ – following the same routine – cooking the same meals – following the same fitness routine – or even staying in a dead-end job can create boredom, anxiety, depression, fatigue, or fear. You can become so stuck at being alone, not venturing out to see new things, try new things, or meet new people – that you become blah.
So, are you going to fail or fly? Either way, God has a plan. He will either allow you to have a learning minute and just wants you to have more experience in your attempts or, He will allow you to soar into the sky of possibilities opening new doors and new chapters of your amazing life.
The righteous are as bold as a lion – Proverbs 28:1b
If you are stuck in the same right now – be bold like a lion and try something new today. Take a walk in a different direction, drive a different way to work, or join that club that you have been thinking about for weeks. Stepping in and trying something new just may be the discovery of a new gift, a new friend, a new talent or a new adventure. Whether you fail or fly always remember that you can’t go wrong with taking that risk in life. You just have to try.
