Dream Box

dream box, vision board, dreams, goals.

I am not a born dreamer.  Some people are. My husband is.  I am not. I find dreaming or going after goals hard.  I am more of a detailed person. You dream up something and I can find the way or ways to implement it.  I am great at developing other’s dreams.  Just on the wimpy side of developing my own – or so I thought….

They say, if you dream a thing more than once, it’s sure to come true… Sleeping Beauty.

In 2019, I had a list of dreams and goals I wanted to accomplish. I had done a Vision Board. Have you ever done one of these?  It’s so fun and very detailed.  Here’s a link to why vision boards work – CLICK HERE. So, regardless if you are a dreamer or a detailed person like me, it is so satisfying when it is complete.  All you do is print out or cut out of magazines pictures of things you dream of. Things you want to do, accomplish, achieve, inspire, etc.  You can divide them all in to categories if you like.

Sample Category Ideas:

  • Personal
  • Financial
  • Family
  • Travel
  • Business
  • Spousal
  • Kids
  • Fitness
  • Nutrition
  • Hobbies
  • Or, pick any category that interests you

Then, all you do is paste them on a board, bristle board, or do a photo collage on your computer. If you do this option, make sure you print it.  The point is to have it visual so you can see it. If you keep seeing it, they will come true. Below is a vision board I did in 2018. After completing this, we actually paid off our mortgage, we booked an Ireland trip (stay tuned for a future travel blog on Ireland), and as you can see from the bottom of it…. I have now started a blog. So, write it down. Dreams CAN and DO come true.

I decided to expand on the vision board. With the help of my husband, who is a natural born dreamer, he suggested a Dream Box.  He gave me the idea to get a box and write down any dream I had and put it in the box. This would solidify the dream. I had to write it down and put it inside a tangible object.

Side Note: Any time I talk about my box, read a sentence about my box, tell my family to, “Not look in my box”.. I think of the TV Show Felicity. Have you watched it? Felicity’s room-mate had a mysterious box that no one could look in. It makes me laugh just thinking about it…..

So, off I went in search of a Box.  I headed to Homesense and Michaels – my go to spots for décor and inspiration.  After searching and searching, I found the perfect box for my dreams.  I also found cute paper to write my Dreams on, pens, and even some cute stickers. Anything to make it fun and pretty.

My Supplies:

  1. Box
  2. Paper
  3. Fancy Pens
  4. Cute Stickers

I came home and began to write some dreams and goals on paper.  It felt so good.

I was now beginning my dreaming process.  My heart was on fire and I was raring to go.  About a week or two after starting my Dream Box, I began the process of starting this blog.  I jumped right in.  My domain was picked with the help of Hostpapa.ca. I had my wordpress account and the setup had begun.  I even signed up for two ‘How to start a Blog’ courses on Udemy.com.  This is a great site to learn anything you want. So many categories to choose from.  I highly recommend it.

If you struggle with dreaming or setting goals, try a Dream Box.  The first step is finding a box.  The rest will just fall into place.  I’d love to hear about some of your dreams. Please feel free to email me with them.  Or, if you are struggling, I’m here for encouragement as well.
